1ST GRADE NEWSLETTER ~ APRIL 24-28, 2017

Religion:  Chapter 13:  Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
We will Pray the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Saint of the Week:  St. Mark the Evangelist

Reading/English:  Research Project
Skills:  put final touches on the rainforest animals research project and put the report on ChatterPix, continue to define words by category and by one or more key attributes

Spelling:  review words
-pretest Monday
-final test Friday

Spelling Word Lists:

List 1:  cage, lucky, blank, fixes, biggest, hurt, each, wonderful, suitcase, ice, done, could

List 2:  brace, hungry, anything, catches, quicker, germ, easiest, afternoon, bruise, switch, done, could

Math:  Chapter 10:  Represent Data
skills:  read picture graphs, make a picture graph, read bar graphs, and make bar graphs

Science:  Life Cycle of a Butterfly
Talk about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Social Studies:  Jane Goodall
We will discuss Jane Goodall and her accomplishments.

Notes from the Teacher:
 -May 12 is our AR picnic.  I am in need of parent volunteers. I will be sending an information sheet home soon.   


-May 18 is our last day of school.  It is a half day of school.  Students will be dismissed at 11:00.  Lunch will not be served on this day.  There will also be no after school program or buses home that day.  All students must be picked up by a parent after Mass or by 11:00.  Thank you!

April 28- FREE DRESS DAY
May 4- 9:00 Mass
May 11- 9:00 Mass with Bishop Medley
May 12- AR Picnic (make up day is May 15 IF needed due to weather)
May 16- Spring Fling-Inflatables in the Gym
May 17-Beach Day in the cafeteria-Students may bring a beach towel to eat their lunch on.
May 18- 9:00- Closing Mass- Last Day of School- This is a ½ day.  Students are dismissed at 11:00.  We will not be serving lunch on this day. No After School Program or buses home.  All students must be picked up by a parent
after Mass or by 11:00.
