1ST GRADE NEWSLETTER ~ NOVEMBER 2-6, 2015

Religion:  We will be discussing holy days - guardian angels, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day this week.
We will pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.

Reading/English:  unit 5:  reading literature:  craft and structure
skills:  identify sensory and feeling words, contrast the features of fictional and informational text, determine the narrator of a story, and key details in a text read aloud    

Spelling:  long u words
-pretest Monday
-final test Friday

Spelling Word Lists:

List 1:  cube, cute, flute, huge, June, mule, rude, rule, tube, use, water, under

List 2:  dune, fuse, mute, prune, uses, called, grilled, landed, melted, rushed, water, under 

Math:  three dimensional geometry
skills:  3 dimensional shapes, combine 3 dimensional shapes, make new 3 dimensional shapes

Science:  How can you measure weather?

Social Studies:  elections, voting, importance of government and leadership

-The children are working hard on AR.  Please encourage your child to read the books carefully and take tests on them.  Remember, AR books can count for Book It, too!
