Preparing for Christmas at the K-3 Campus

Pope Francis has called ALL of us to reach out to the poor.  Teaching children to participate in Corporal Works of Mercy is what we are called to do as a Catholic School.  We are excited about the upcoming Jubilee Year of Mercy, which begins on December 8, 2015.  You will hear more about this later!

This year at the K-3 Campus we will once again be partnering with the Glenmary Sisters to collect items that will be given to missions.

We ask each child to bring in items from the grade level list.  We will collect these items from November 30-December 11.  We will collect and keep the items in the classroom as a visual sign of our gifts!  The Glenmary Sisters will come to the school to collect the items.  We will carry the donations to the Sisters, and I will explain the importance of our call to love and care for others.

The first grade is asked to bring WINTER WEAR:  hats, gloves, scarves, coats, and socks.
Thank you for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Kim Riney

ADVENT ACTIVITIES AT THE K-3 CAMPUS

Along with our annual drive for the Glenmary Sisters, we will do other things to draw us closer to the meaning of Christmas!  The students will begin each school day with an Advent song and meditation.  Each class will have an Advent Wreath.  The morning song will be led by a different class each day over the school PA.

Each classroom will also be doing daily activities and lessons to help the students focus on the true meaning of Advent and Christmas.  I will read the story The Sparkle Box to the students.  Throughout Advent, students can put a little note into the box when another student does a kind deed for someone.  On the last day of school, we will open the “sparkle box” and read about all the gifts/kind deeds they have gathered as gifts for JESUS.

Students do NOT exchange gifts at the K-3 Campus, but there will be a Christmas Party in our classroom on December 18 at 12:30. I will send home more information at a later date.

Your child also brought home a devotional book entitled Waiting for Jesus. This is a gift from us to your family.  We hope you take each night to say the prayers, do the activities, and truly REFLECT and LIVE out the season together as a family.

Parents are invited to attend the K-3 Christmas Program on December 11 at 12:30 in the Gym.
