Notes from the Teacher:

-Thank you for coming to the Curriculum Night. I enjoyed talking with you and sharing our daily routine. : )

-I am amazed at the way the children have taken to AR! They’re really getting the points! I’m very proud of them! Please emphasize that they need to read the books carefully so they can answer the questions on the tests accurately. When they rush reading the books and taking the tests it counts against them because it brings their average down.

Owensboro Catholic Football Spirit Night and Tailgate Party is scheduled for September 13 . The Tailgate party will take place on the lawn at Kentucky Wesleyan College before the football game.

Black Out Spirit shirts must be ordered by August 30. NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Students are allowed to wear their spirit shirts to school on September 13 with uniform bottoms. If you need another order form, please contact the school office.

I enjoyed seeing so many parents last night at Curriculum Night!  Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to come and talk with me.  : )

-The children have really begun to “get into the groove”! I’m so proud of them!

-Several children have attempted AR tests already. That’s amazing! Please remind them that the important thing is to do their best on the test, not see how many tests they can take or how many points they can get. Thanks!

BIRTHDAY TREATS:

No birthday parties are permitted at the K-3 Campus. Due to the increase in food allergies, and in order to ensure the safety of all students absolutely NO food may be brought in for a child’s birthday. Birthday invitations are not to be brought to school and distributed unless all members of the same gender in the classroom are invited.

All snacks brought to school, must be individually wrapped OR in an individual baggie. Students MAY NOT bring in snacks for anyone other than themselves. In order to protect all children with food allergies, we ask that parents refer to the www.snacksafely.com website to find nutritional and safe snacks. Please do NOT send in snacks with peanut butter or peanuts in them.

Afternoon Pick Up- Important Information

Thank you for patience as we work through Afternoon Car Rider Dismissal. Please remember:

~ Parents must get out of their vehicle and stand in the front part of the parking lot area so that their child can see them. For older students you could pick a meeting spot where you are waiting every day. Due to the number of cars in the lot, students are not allowed to walk up and down the aisles looking for a parent.

~ Parents who park on Time Drive must walk over to the parking lot to get their child. PLEASE stress to your child that if you are not there to pick them up, they are NEVER to walk over to Time Drive looking for you.

~ Kindergarten students will exit a few minutes early from the front lobby, and are to remain in the fenced area until the person picking them up comes to get them.

~ Students who do not see their parent are to return to the front of the school. We have nine staff members supervising the parking lot area and can communicate via 2-way radio. Please, tell your child if they can’t find you to go back to the front of the school and if a staff member sees you before they do, we can call them via radio.

The Accelerated Reader Program has begun. It will end on the last day of school before Spring Break.

50 Point Increment Rewards

Every time a student reaches a 50 point increment in Accelerated Reader, their name will be announced during daily announcements, and they will be invited for a special celebration with the principal, along with all other students who reached a 50 Point increment (50, 100, 150 points, etc.).

These celebrations will take place in October, December, and April, and will take the place of being recognized at the end of the year Closing Ceremony.

School Wide Reward- The entire school will be rewarded with a picnic to Legion Park at the end of the school year to celebrate reading!

Classroom Reward- Teachers will plan incentives and rewards within their classroom for students who reach individual goals. The teacher will send home information about individual goals for your child.

Sunday, August 4, 2013

It's hard to believe school begins this week.  I had so much fun meeting the children and seeing their smiling faces at "meet your teacher" night.  Their excitement is contagious!

Please remember to send a snack with your child daily, beginning Wednesday.  Also, please return the information paper I left on your child's desk as soon as you can.  Thanks!

Thank you for sharing your precilous children with me this school year.  I will take very good care of all of them and enjoy every minute of it!  : )
