1ST GRADE NEWSLETTER ~ SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 3, 2014

Religion:  Chapter 6:  Baptism is a Wonderful Gift
We will say the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary this week.

Reading:  Unit 1 Review
We will review skills learned in Unit 1 this week.  We will also be working on writing skills all week.

Spelling:    words learned in Unit 1
-Dictation- Wednesday
-Test- Friday

Math:  Chapter 2:  Subtraction Concepts
Skills:  problem solving-model subtraction, use pictures and subtraction to compare, subtract to compare

Science:  summer / fall changes

Social Studies:  transportation

-I am amazed at how the children have embraced AR!  They are reading all the time! 
I’m very proud of them!


-As you probably have noticed, the children are bringing home several graded papers.  (1st grade is definitely different from Kindergarten!)  They have to read a lot on their own and work independently often.  Please emphasize the importance of working carefully and to always try their best.  Encourage them not to get discouraged.  They’ll get the hang of it! J
