1ST GRADE NEWSLETTER ~ NOVEMBER 16-20, 2015

Religion:  We will discuss holy people this week.  We will pray the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. 
Saint of the Week:  St. Cecelia

Reading/English:  unit 5:  reading literature:  craft and structure
skills:  identify sensory and feeling words, contrast the features of fictional and informational text, determine the narrator of a story, compare and contrast texts, identify verbs and their inflected forms, and identify root words

Spelling:  vowel sounds of y words
-pretest Monday
-final test Friday

Spelling Word Lists:

List 1:  any, body, by, cry, fly, lucky, my, puppy, silly, try, things, always

List 2:   why, bumpy, choppy, fifty, hungry, smelly, tummy, ugly, very, pretty, things, always

Math:  chapter 5:  Addition and Subtraction Relationships
skills:  problem solving, record related facts, identify related facts

Science:  Chapter 11:  Day and Night Sky
skills:  what's in the day sky, what causes day/night, what's in the night sky

Social Studies:  how basic needs were met long ago

-This Friday, November 20, is a FREE DRESS DAY. 

-Friday is also OHRH Health assessments.  That’s always lots of fun for the children!

-Each Monday a spelling list for the week is sent home.  Remember, if you want your child to have a different list than the one he/she is assigned, please send me an email or a note letting me know and I will make the change.  Thanks!
