1ST GRADE NEWSLETTER ~ NOVEMBER 21-22, 2016

Dear Parents,
I want to thank you for your generosity in donating items for our upcoming STEM projects!  You were so kind to send in so many things. They were very much appreciated!  Thank you!!
This week we will be working on various activities:

  • Thanksgiving activities:
    • being thankful for all of our wonderful blessings
    • the first Thanksgiving and life then and now
    • Pilgrims, Mayflower, and Native Americans
  • long and short vowels (NO SPELLING TEST!)
  • subtraction concepts-use pictures to subtract and compare
  • We will even be shopping for our own Thanksgiving dinner!
    • The children will be given $25 and will have to shop for their food and figure out what they want and what they can afford!
We will pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.
Saint of the Week:  St. Cecelia

Notes from the Teacher:
-The K-3 Campus has decided to keep the last day of school before Christmas Break simple. We will not be having class parties. Students will be going to the gym to watch The Polar Express on the “BIG Screen”. They may wear their pajamas to school and bring in a drink. Please do not send in any class treats to school. The school will provide safe allergy free treats. Teachers will plan activities sprinkled throughout the day, but there will not be an official party. Santa Claus will even stop by during the day! It will be a special day for the students!

I wish you all a very nice Thanksgiving holiday!  Thank you for sharing your most prized possession with me!  I feel very blessed!   Enjoy your much deserved family time!  Happy Thanksgiving!
