1ST GRADE NEWSLETTER MAY 19-23, 2014

Religion:  Chapter 18:  We Celebrate Pentecost
We will pray the Glorious Mysteries of the rosary this week.

Reading:  Alexander Graham Bell
Skills:  vowels aw, au, draw conclusions, short e:  ea, using I and me
-story test Thursday

Spelling:  aw words
-No pretest this week.  Everyone will get list 1 because of the short week.
-Practice test and dictation Wednesday
-Final test Thursday this week

REMINDER:
All student accounts for the Cafeteria must be keep in the positive through the end of school year.   Please use My School Bucks to monitor your child's account balances.

 -May 23:  Picnic to Legion Park- parents and younger siblings welcome-Volunteers are also appreciated!
 -May 29:  Spring Fling- Inflatable Playground in the gym (8:30-9:30).

-May 30:  Free Dress Day/ Last Day Prayer Service- in Church at 10:30- Students may leave with a parent or guardian as soon as the Prayer Service is over.  If you are not attending the prayer service you may pick your child up at 11:00.  There is NO AFTER SCHOOL Program this day.

AR PICNIC INFORMATION: 

-Wear “Faith in Education shirts” (new bright green with OC logo on the back preferred, but if you can’t find it, any of the older Faith in Ed. Shirts are fine) with “out of uniform” bottoms-shirts or jeans.
-Wear TENNIS SHOES.  No flip flops, sandals, or open back shoes.
-Apply sunscreen BEFORE leaving home.
-BRING TWO DRINKS – SPORTS DRINKS OR WATER WITH SCREW CAPS!!  PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON BOTH DRINKS!  No sodas or cans.
-I would discourage the children from bringing play equipment because it may get lost or broken.

-PARENTS WHO PLAN ON CHECKING THEIR CHILD OUT AT THE PARK MUST SIGN THE CHILD OUT AT THE FIRST AID SHELTER.  PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS EARLY IN THE DAY, SO THAT WE DO NOT HAVE A LONG LINE WHEN IT IS TIME TO START LOADING BUSES.
