Dear Parents,

Thank you for the Visa gift card.  You were way too generous!  I have such wonderful students.  They are a special group and I enjoy spending time with them.

Also, I’d like to thank the moms who helped with our Christmas party and all those who sent in items for it.  We had a lot of fun!

I hope you all have a Blessed Christmas and a wonderful Holiday Season!

Sincerely,

Kim Riney

-We will have a class gift exchange this year.  Each child needs to bring a $5 gift to be exchanged December 18. Girls bring a girl’s gift; boys bring a boy’s gift.  The gift tag should read,  “To: girl/boy     From: your child’s name”

Please bring them to school this week!

OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY WILL STILL BE DECEMBER 18, EVEN THOUGH WE'LL BE IN SCHOOL DECEMBER 19.

As our Advent project this year your child will bring home a cut out of “helping hands”.  Please talk with your child to find ways they can be like Jesus to others by doing good deeds, helping at home, volunteering at church, saying their prayers, etc.  The children write their good deeds on one of the “helping hands” each week and return the hand to school by Friday.  I will have a picture of a stable in my classroom with an empty manger.  These hands will be used to build a soft bed for Baby Jesus.

Pope Francis has called all of us to reach out to the poor.   Teaching children to participate in acts of social justice is what we are called to do as a Catholic school. As part of our Advent Project, we will be partnering with the Glenmary Sisters to collect items that will be given to those in need.  We encourage each first grader to bring in winter wear items (hats, gloves, scarves, coats, socks).  The Glenmary Sisters will come to the school to collect the items as we will explain the importance of our call to love and care for others.   Thank you!
